St. Mark's 2013–2014 Recital Series

Now in its ninth season, the St. Mark's Recital Series is one of Durango's not-to-be-missed musical series. "One of Durango's top-ten musical events" wrote Judith Reynolds in the Durango Telegraph. All recitals are held in the historic sanctuary of St. Mark's Church. Because seating is limited and many recitals have sold out, advanced ticket purchase is recommended.

As our way of saying "thank you," season subscribers receive a 20% discount the night of the recital at Cyprus Cafe, 725 E. 2nd Ave.

The Best Brass of Christmas

Eleven brass players of exceptional abilities bring you Christmas music that will set the stage for your holiday season Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 910 E. 3rd Ave. This year we're excited to add C. Scott Hagler on organ, making it an even dozen. Members of this exceptional brass ensemble come from Farmington, Durango, Denver, Albuquerque and Santa Fe and range from tuba to piccolo trumpets. Music of Handel, Bach, Mozart, Faure, Holst and many traditional Christmas tunes will delight young and old alike. The centerpiece of the concert is a wonderful arrangement of "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen. If you love brass music and what it brings to celebrating Christmas, this is the concert for you! The Best Brass of Christmas began its run of concerts seven years ago at Sacred Heart Parish in Farmington. Since that first concert Best Brass has traveled to Santa Fe, Los Alamos and now Durango, for a second time. Also included in their concertizing this year will be Cortez.
